1. This month we welcome JAN FRAZER as our Guest Speaker.
Jan has sent us the following info:
“I have been involved with Patchwork and Quilting for over forty years, having started in 1977 whilst living in Tennessee. Over the years, my work has moved from a traditional to a more contemporary art-quilt style. I love strong colours and use a range of hand and machine techniques. I enjoy hand and machine quilting. My quilts have been exhibited in Australia, USA, France, England and Canada, winning numerous awards in Australia and the USA.I am a Victorian Quilters Guild accredited judge and a former member of the Quilt Appraisal Team.
My subject title is Unintended.
Looking at the quilts I have made over the last 40 odd years, I was surprised to find a recurring botanical theme.
I have selected a number of these quilts which will illustrate both traditional and contemporary art quilt styles using a range of hand and machine techniques including piecing, applique, embroidery, quilting plus painting and other surface design techniques.
I will discuss the inspiration behind these pieces and also some aspects of colour and design elements used.
Jan Frazer”
We look forward to hearing all about Jan’s quilting journey.
